Special Assembly for our Top students at Boys’ High 🗞️

 

Today the Boys’ High held a special assembly to hand over top placement certificates for Term 1.

Excitement was high as the percentages were extremely close in some cases. Well done to all the learners and also to the staff that teach and guide them.

Ten Stars fly South Africa’s flag high at the International competition in Kenya

STAR COLLEGE, DURBAN, WALK AWAY WITH 50% OF THE WORLDS GOLD MEDALS AWARDED AT THE INTERNATIONAL PROJECT COMPETITION!!!

Ten learners from Star College, Westville, recently hit the runway filled with anticipation as they set off for Kenya to enter the Golden Climate International Project Competition. 101 Projects were entered from 19 different countries from over 180 learners from across the globe. The competition offered 5 categories: Agriculture, Energy, Environment Design, Engineering and Junior Environment. 2 Gold medals, 2 Silver medals and various Bronze medals were offered in each category. The learners that represented South Africa, and their school Star College, walked away with 5 Gold medals, 4 Silver medals and 1 Bronze!

 

REPORT ON VISIT TO DEPUTY MAYOR’S PARLOUR ON TUESDAY

On Tuesday, 17 April 2018; the Principal, a few staff members and 22 learners attended a function held in the parlour of The Honourable Deputy Mayor of the Ethekweni Municipality, Councillor Fawzia Peer. The function was hosted by her in lieu of the accolades and recognition that Star College had attained locally, nationally and internationally in the fields of academics and Olympiads.

The function commenced with a warm welcome by Her Worship, the deputy mayoress. In her welcome address, she expressed her interest in the school with regards to its leadership in the fields of academics and Olympiads. She expressed further that her admiration for the school also stems from the fact that the institution offers children from disadvantaged communities the opportunity to study at the institution and to become a part of the family at STAR COLLEGE. She also commended the members of the teaching staff on their commitment and dedication to the school.

On Saturday 24 February was Open Day at Star College 👩‍🏫

A power point presentations were eloquently executed by Mrs Vandeyar in the Primary phase, Mr Jimmie in the Girls’ High and Mr Ramiah in the Boys’ High.

The various academic and extra-curricular activities were explained to the parents. The past years results were also highlighted.

Best Performing Independent School!

On Friday 16th February, Star College attended the Annual Pinetown District NSC Awards Ceremony.

Star College was awarded the Trophy for the Independent School that consistently achieved 100% Pass Rate 2015 – 2017.

Star College has had a 100% Pass Rate since its’ first matriculants in 2005.

Over and above this auspicious award, the school was also presented with the Best Performing Independent School 2017!

Roseland Adventure Trip 🚣‍♂️🤸‍♂️🏃‍♂️💫

Star College Boys Grade 8’s had a 3 day adventure at Roselands.

Fun activities on day 1 included swimming, zip lining, canoeing and water activities on the lake.

Day 2 introduced Team Building activities and life as a real bushman. The day ended with the learners cooking their own bunny chows over a wooden fire.

Star College High School Soccer Season 2018 Begins!⚽

Motivated by their epic performance in the 2017 season, beating their proverbial soccer GOLIAH – Nilgiri High School by an unimaginably high margin (6 – 2), the boys are promising more fireworks in the 2018 season.
