SAMO 2011: TOP school in KZN and the 2nd Best school in South Africa in the National Mathematics Olympiad
A total of 58 375 learners from 882 schools nationwide wrote the Harmony South African Mathematics Olympiad in 2011.From Star College 362 of our learners attended the first round of the competition in 2011. There were 149 students who qualified to write the Second Round.

In the top 100 list of South Africa, KZN Province had 21 students of which 10 were from Star College.

10 learners (Bagratee TJB grd 9, Chaudhary R grd 12, Gavindasamy N grd 9, Mahadeo L M grd 10, Moodley D grd 10, Naidoo V grd 9, Sapry SS grd 9, Singh RS grd 10, Sookdeo SS grd 12, Sunder DD grd 11), achieved to be in the top 100 (BRONZE MEDALIST) of South Africa, qualified to write the Final Round.

On the 7th of September the top 100 senior and junior learners in South Africa participated in the 3rd round of the Harmony Gold South African Mathematics Olympiad.

In the top 10 list of South Africa, Star College had three learners namely; Gavindasamy N grd 9, Mahadeo L M grd 10, Sunder DD grd 11 (SILVER MEDALISTS).

This made Star College the TOP school in KZN and the 2nd BEST school in South Africa in 2011 National Maths Olympiad..

Gavindasamy N grd 9, Mahadeo L M grd 10, Sunder DD grd 11 , the only learners from KZN, were invited for the SAMO Awards Ceremony which was held in Cape Town on 8th of October 2011. Congratulations to our learners……
