On 17 May 2014, Star College as well as a number of other schools participated in the Minquiz competition sponsored by Mintek. The team was comprised of three matric learners namely, Ehsaan Rajak, Shihal Sapry and Luthando Mdadane. The quiz took place at UKZN at the Edgewood Campus. There were two rounds that took place. The first was a written round, where each member of the team competed as individuals in answering a quiz.
